Obituary of Norman Arthur Murray

 

Norman Arthur Murray, 81, New Glasgow, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, December 31, 2024, in the Aberdeen Hospital, Palliative Care Unit, New Glasgow.

 

Born in New Glasgow on April 19, 1943, he was a son of the late Arthur Chisholm and Catherine (Cormier) Murray. Norman and his late wife, Lynda, operated the former Blue Acres Irving Car Wash and the Irving Garage restaurant in Salt Springs. Following they opened I.D. Fashions, which Lynda operated for many years, and purchased Grant Street apartments, where Norman was deeply cherished by his tenants. Norman loved his pets, skating, and could always be seen tending to his yard by passers by.

 

Surviving are his daughter, Angela (Stephen) Stewart, Toronto, Ont.; son-in-law, Glenn Scott, Stellarton; grandchildren, Ross Stewart, Cameron Stewart, Tyler Scott and Kyra Scott (Justin MacRae); sisters, Barbara (Dan) Pitts, Stellarton; Beverly (Orest) Luka, Clairmont, Alta.; Linda Murray, Hopewell; brother, Roy Murray (Linda), Pictou Landing; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Murray, New Glasgow; Leola Woodin, Upper Musquodoboit, Faye Logan, Upper Musquodoboit; Molly Dean, Middle Musquodoboit;  many nieces and nephews.

 

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Lynda (Woodin); daughter, Sherry Scott; brother, Ernest “Ernie” Murray; sister-in-law, Karen (Brian) Canning; brothers-in-law, Russell (Shirley) Woodin, Elwyn Woodin, Clyde Dean and, John Logan; nephews, John Woodin and Morley Dean.

 

Norman’s family wish to extend their sincere appreciation to the Aberdeen Hospital Transitional Unit Staff and Glen Haven Mannor Staff for the wonderful care he received. A huge acknowledgement to Norman’s caregiver and friend, Gail MacLean, for her immeasurable support.

 

A Celebration of Norman’s life will be held in the spring.
