Obituary of James Robert Anderson
James Robert Anderson, 69, Little Egypt, passed away peacefully, Friday, September 20, 2024, in the Sutherland Harris Memorial Hospital, Northumberland Veterans Unit, Pictou surrounded by the love of his family.
Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Warren Robert and Jean Elizabeth (MacKay) Anderson. Robert began working as a volunteer fireman at the age of 14. He was employed with Joel Sewell Masonry and Electroholm. Prior to retirement, he was employed with Michelin Tire, Granton for 38 years. Robert grew up in the Trenton Church of the Nazarene and possessed faith in his Lord. He enjoyed spending time with his pals, Keith Brown and Kenny Paquette, drinking coffee at Trenton Tim Hortons, cutting firewood and fishing in the Cape Breton Highlands. Robert was rarely alone, as his fur pals, Towjoe, Lucy and Lassie were always by his side. He enjoyed Westerns and was an avid Ralph Compton and Louis L’amour reader. Robert enjoyed spending time working in the outdoors and driving his motorcycles. In younger years, Robert played hockey all year long either on the pond or the road. Robert was a loyal Montreal Canadiens hockey fan, never missing a game. He and Towjoe, faithfully watched wrestling at full volume each week. Robert looked forward to the Pictou North Colchester Exhibition each year, especially the horse pulls. Robert will be remembered for his big heart, willingness to help and generosity.
Surviving are his daughters, Sarah Anderson (Jamie Harding), Fredericton, N.B.; Julia Anderson, Whitehorse, Y.T.; son, Jarrett Anderson, Salt Springs; sisters, Ann (David) Hart, Halifax; Elizabeth (Paul) Black, Hilden; Donna (David “Illy”), Little Egypt; sister-in-law, Ann Marie Simpson, Little Egypt; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides his parents, Warren and Jean, he was predeceased by brothers, Charlie and John Warren in infancy.
The family will receive visitors 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, September 25 in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, September 26 in Trenton Church of the Nazarene.
