Obituary of Donna Irene Champion

Donna Irene Champion, 67, New Glasgow, passed away Friday, September 13, 2024, in the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Unit, New Glasgow with her husband, Bob by her side.

Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late Harold Weldon “Haddy” and Rita Mary (Hatchard) MacKenzie.  Donna possessed a kind heart and enjoyed helping others.

She was employed Summer Street Industries, New Glasgow for several years in catering. Over the years, she volunteered with a several organizations. Donna was very fond of her cat, Tyler and was kind to every animal she met. She was an avid reader and enjoyed watching movies based on true stories, especially, True Crime. Donna will be fondly remembered as a kind, honest person who enjoyed having fun and joking around.

Surviving are her husband, Robert Eric “Bob” Champion; daughter, Andrea MacKenzie (Matt), Stellarton; son, Jason MacKenzie, Halifax; grandchildren, Jayden, Rebecca and Lily; sister, Shirley (Mike) MacDonald, Mulgrave; brothers, James “Jim” (Christine) MacKenzie, Trenton; Weldon MacKenzie, Edmonton, Alta.; nieces, Diana MacDonald (Art) and Jessie Rector; nephew, Michael (Nicole) MacDonald; great-neices, Ashley MacDonald, Haley MacDonald and Maylen MacDonald; great-great nephew, Jacob White; several cousins.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her infant brother, Clement Edward MacKenzie. 

In honour of Donna’s wishes her family will hold a Celebration of Life at a later date.
