Obituary of Stephen Joseph MacGillivray
Stephen Joseph MacGillivray, 50, Ponds, passed away Thursday, July 25, 2024, at home with his fiancée by his side.
Born in Toronto, he was a son of Mary Frances (MacKinnon) MacGillivray and the late Wilfred Cameron “Bud” MacGillivray. Stephen was a heavy equipment operator, locally for CCT Consulting and several companies in Fort McMurray, Alta. His first “love” was fishing and since the age of 15, looked forward to each lobster season. Stephen possessed a “big heart”, strong work ethic and unwavering love for his family.
Surviving besides his mother, Mary MacGillivray, Lismore, are his fiancée, Shauna Marshall; daughter, Jordyn MacGillivray (Braeden Boucher), Grande Prairie, Alta.; stepdaughter, Makaela Boudreau, Ponds; step-sons, Jonathan (Jaina) MacGillivray, Grande Prairie; Dominick Boudreau, Ponds; brothers, David and John Allen, Lismore; maternal uncles, Mike Bryan, Lismore and Pat Bryan, Toronto, Ont.; paternal aunts, Eleanor Slevin and Marsha MacDonald, Ponds; Joan MacGillivray, Lismore; many cousins.
Besides his father, Bud, he was predeceased by biological sister, Terri Johnson; maternal aunts, Pauline Bryan and Betty MacKinnon; paternal uncles, Peter Slevin, Alvin MacDonald, Kevin and Gordon MacGillivray.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Monday, July 29, 2024, in St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Lismore with Father Colin F. MacKinnon presiding.
In honour of Stephen’s wishes, he will leave Lismore Wharf one final time, to be set free to travel the seven seas.
