Obituary of Roger Cyril Burns
STELLARTON – Roger Cyril Burns, 82, Stellarton, passed away peacefully, Monday, July 15, 2024, in Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow, with his wife Mary by his side.
Born in Frier’s Head, Inverness County, he as a son of the late John and Annie (Doucet) Burnes. Prior to retirement, he was a welder with the former Trenton Works for many years, having begun his career in Ontario in his late teens. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, New Glasgow.
Roger loved to sing and enjoyed entertaining family and friends. He enjoyed dancing and spending time with family. Roger lived his life to the fullest and was content. For Roger, “Life has changed; not ended!”
Surviving are his wife, Mary Burns, Stellarton; daughters, Lola (Clarence) LeLievre, Cheticamp Island; Annette (Everett) Poirier, Cheticamp; Cindy (Tracy) Groundwater, St. John, N.B.; son, Michael (Sandra) Burns, Prince Albert, B.C.; grandchildren, Jason, Mika, Coby and Amelia; great-grandchildren, Nevaeh and Ryan; step-daughter, Lynn Deagle (Ryan), Edmonton, Alta.; step-son, Bruce Deagle (Ashley Coady), Stellarton; step-grandchildren, Virgina and Emilie; sisters, Velma LeBlanc, Caplemoine; brother, Alex John Burns, Halifax; many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by siblings, Lucy Dora Aucoin, Loretta Aucoin, Thomas Burns, Lionel Burns and Bernadette LeBlanc.
A celebration of Roger’s life will be held at a later date.
