Obituary of Mark Vincent Ramscar Melanson

It is with profound sadness that the family of Mark Vincent Ramscar Melanson, 46, announce his passing on June 20, 2024, in Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.

Born in New Glasgow, he was the son of the late Anne Dawson (MacKenzie) Melanson and Dr. John Vincent Ramscar. Mark graduated from the former East Pictou High School and obtained his pipefitting diploma from the Nova Scotia Community College.

Mark is survived by sister, Victoria DiBiaso, Paris, France; brother Graham Melanson (Erin Kimmel), New York, U.S.A.; niece, Margaery Kimmel, New York; aunt, Heather Abdulaziz, Halifax; cousin, Hakim Abdulaziz, Halifax; great aunt, Joyce MacKnight, New Glasgow; step-aunt, Diane Wagg; several cousins; father, Dr. J Vincent Ramscar, Calgary, Alta.

 Besides his mother, Anne, he was predeceased by his uncle, Donald MacKenzie; maternal and paternal grandparents.

Mark’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the entire staff of the Sunset Community, Pugwash, for the incredible home they provided for Mark over the past three years. For providing him with an extended family, joyful experiences and memories that he continued to share until his passing. Special thanks to the many friends who visited Mark during his final weeks, to share a laugh, comfort him and celebrate his 46^th birthday. This outpouring of love and compassion filled his heart with joy. A special thanks to the palliative and medical teams at The Sunset Community, the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre and the Aberdeen Hospital for the excellent care Mark received.

A private family service will be held in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mark’s memory to The Sunset Community or the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of  Canada, Maritime Region.
