Obituary of Ola Evelyn Willett
Evelyn Willett, 103, Vimy Court, Bible Hill, formerly of New Glasgow, passed away peacefully, Saturday, March 16, 2024, in Vimy Court, surrounded by the love of her family and Vimy Court caregivers.
Born in New Harbour, Ola Evelyn was a daughter of the late George Tupper and Katherine Margaret (Lowe) Luddington. She is the last surviving member of her immediate family. Evelyn was a devoted and loving homemaker. Her home was always open for people to drop by for a meal or warm cookies and biscuits. Evelyn enjoyed baking, knitting, and quilting. She especially enjoyed the company of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great, great-grandchildren. Evelyn was a faithful member of the former Calvary Temple Church, New Glasgow where she participated in Women’s Ministries and the Seniors Club. She was a member of the Salvation Army Home League. Evelyn’s family are comforted to know that her longed-for reunion with her husband, Larry and loved ones who have gone before has been realized.
Surviving are her children, Elaine Cancian, Truro; John Willett, Frasers Mountain; Kathy (Gary) Coakes, Bedford; Lorraine Clyburne, Lower Sackville; grandchildren, Pam (Tom), David, Mike (Kathryn), John (Crystal), Martin (Debby), Jeff, Trevor, Mandi (James), Ryan, Mike (Karen) and Angie (Rob); great-grandchildren, George, Amanda, Alyssa, Thomas, Spencer, Ysabella, Ashley, Bailey, Tyler, Matthew, Jordyn, Jayme, Tessa, Noah, Kyle, Xavier; great, great-grandchildren, Rylee, Kassidy, Kenzie, Ellie, Laynee, Lyla, Arlee, Bryson, Hunter, Brody, and Layla; many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Lawrence Joseph Willett; son, Lawrence Tupper Willett; daughters-in-law, Trixie Willett, and Linda Willett; sons-in-law, Cal Cancian and Brian Clyburne; sisters, Irma Sangster, Eileen Wilson, Jean Sangster, and Ina Burke; brother, Roland Luddington; sister-in-law, Frances Luddington; brothers-in-law, Alex Sangster, Harold Wilson, Watson Sangster, and Wallace Burke; great-granddaughter, Ada.
The family will receive visitors 1 -1:50 p.m. Thursday, March 21 in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home from where funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Interment will be in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens at a later date.
Evelyn’s family wish to thank the Vimy Court nursing home staff where she resided for nine years, her family physician, Dr. Nina Makkar, and her caregiver, Gert Clark for the wonderful care she received.
