Obituary of Matthew Alan Brown
Matthew Alan Brown, 38, Vancouver, B.C., passed away in Hope, B.C. as the result of a Motor Vehicle Accident.
Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of Gordon Wayne and Janet Ann (Dobson) Brown, New Glasgow. Matthew had been employed in construction for many years. He was a graduate of the former East Pictou Rural High School in 2003. Matthew enjoyed playing guitar and hanging out with his friends. He was an diehard Montreal Canadiens fan, never missing a game. Matthew’s passion was traveling, and he always enjoyed the city life.
Besides his parents, Gordon and Janet, he is survived by sisters, Amanda Brown, New Glasgow; Candace Brown (Steven), Springville; niece, Maya Brown; nephews, Christopher and Austin Brown; maternal aunts, Penny Dobson, Thorburn; Cynthia O’Connor, Bridgeville; maternal uncles, Ben (Arlene) Dobson, New Glasgow; paternal uncles, Fred (Sharon) Brown, Priestville; John Tracey, MacLellan’s Mountain; many cousins.
He was predeceased by his brother, John Gordon Brown in infancy; maternal grandparents, Ruth (Smith) and John Dobson; paternal grandparents, Charles Frederick “Buster’ and Muriel (Arnold) Brown; maternal uncles, Melvin, and Timmy Dobson; paternal aunts, Betty Tracy, and Chris Brown.
The family will receive visitors 1 – 1:50 p.m. Sunday, February 18 in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home Chapel, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. with Rev. Charles McPherson officiating. Spring interment will be in Priestville Cemetery.
