Obituary of Walter Lewis Mason

Walter Lewis Mason, 81, New Glasgow, formerly of Reeves Road, Coalburn, passed away, December 31, 2023.

Born in Country Harbour, he was the fifth child of the late Grant and Sadie Ethel (Smith) Mason.  Prior to retirement, Walter was a self-employed carpenter, a career he greatly enjoyed. In earlier years he was employed with Waverley Construction and travelled extensively throughout Canada. He possessed a wonderful sense of humour which was greatly appreciated by his nieces and nephews. Walter spent many enjoyable hours walking with his dog, King on Reeves Road.

Surviving are his son, Walter Mason Jr., Calgary, Alta.; step-son, Alex MacDonald, New Brunswick; several step-grandchildren; sisters, Marion (Carl) Johnson, Amherst; Thelma Boynton, Stoney Creek, Ont.; Linda Vance, New Glasgow; Carol Cole, Sheila Mason and Sandra Mason, Coalburn; brothers, Wayne (Cathy) Mason, Westville Road; George (Jane), Abercrombie; Stan (Bonnie), Thorburn; Dave (Barb), Granton; Neil (June), Truro; Kenny (Elaine), Antigonish; sister-in-law, Eunice Mason, South Shore; many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Brenton, Warren, and Ray; sister-in-law, Sally Mason; brothers-in-law, Dixon Cole, and Glen Boynton; niece, Laura; nephews, Jeffery, Bill, Laurence, Trevor, Warren Jr.

In keeping with Walter’s wishes, his family will celebrate his life privately.
