Obituary of Michael Francis Baldwin
Michael Francis “Mike” Baldwin, 66, Priestville, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, October 17, 2023, in the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative, New Glasgow, surrounded by family and a close friend.
Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late John Redmond and Mary Beatrice (Rodgers) Baldwin. He began working at a young age with the former Bagnell’s Drycleaners, then with Maritime Steel at the age of 18. Following, he worked with Eddy Brooks for a number of years and did body work on the side. Mike enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working on cars. He enjoyed the outdoors, watching wildlife and spending time with his feline pals, Buggers, and Hombre. Mike possessed a resilient spirit, great sense of humour and a “big heart”.
Surviving are his children, Michael (Madi) and Michelle (Ryan); five granddaughters; siblings, Judy (Edward) MacLeod and John (Nancy) Baldwin; stepchildren, Mary and George; four step-grandchildren and five step-great, grandchildren; three nephews; many cousins; “like a brother”, Kevin (Sharon) Snell.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Muriel Oliver; brother, Patrick, and a brother in infancy; nephew, Christopher Baldwin.
The family will receive visitors 1-3 p.m. Saturday, October 21 in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. A graveside service for Michael and his late wife, Muriel, will follow at 3:15 p.m. in Priestville Cemetery with Father MacDonald Ibeh presiding.
