Obituary of Joseph Watson Cameron
Joseph Watson “Joe” Cameron, 92, Linacy, passed away peacefully, Friday, September 29, 2023.
Born in Inverness, Cape Breton to the late Murdock Bullock and Mary Bryce (Watson) Cameron. Joe left the Cameron family farm in Foot Cape to join his brother and sisters in Ontario. Joe worked at various places in Kitchener, Ont., most notably Sales Engineering where he worked for many years. Joe and wife, Jean made their way back to Nova Scotia, settling in Linacy, Pictou County. Joe worked on the Aberdeen Mall build until he was hired at Michelin Tire, Granton, retiring in the early 1990’s. Joe passed his passions and knowledge to his children and grandchildren. Joe lived his life for his family and now enjoys a happy reunion with those who have gone before him.
Surviving are his children, Mardi Cameron (Louanne Cooper), Halifax; Carole (Mark) MacKinnon, Trenton; Joseph “Joey” Cameron, Linacy; Robert (Donna) Cameron, Linacy; grandchildren, Michael (Candace), Greene, B.C.; Melissa Greene (Macy Lucas), Ontario; Johcey Greene (Jessica) and Daniel Cameron, Alberta; Mark (Amber) Cameron, Jessie (Neil) Mosher, Gilbert (Jasmin) Levy, Della Jean Levy, Brendon Angst, Lance Cameron, Sarah Cameron and Lachlan Cameron all of Pictou County; great-grandchildren, Austin Gour, Halifax; Ehran Greene, British Columbia; Abby Gour and Faryn, Ontario; Tyson and Shylah, New Brunswick; Chase Hart, Noah Chapman, Ashton Cameron, Everly Mosher all of Pictou County; great, great-granddaughter, Karmaliyah, Ontario; sister-in-law, Sheila Cameron, Hope Bay, Ont.; many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Jean Elizabeth (Varrence) Cameron; sisters, Mae Hawley, Anne Wilfong, Shirley Moser; brothers, Jimmy, Stanley “Buddy”, John “Jack”, Donald “Sonny” and Robert “Bobby” Cameron.
The family will receive visitors 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, October 3 in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 4 with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiation. Interment will be in Murray’s Point Cemetery, Lower Barneys River. Following a reception will be held in the Linacy Fire Hall.
Joe’s family wish to express their deep appreciation for the care their dad received from the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Unit nurses and staff, Vital Air, Dr. Melanie McCara, VON Canada, and Dr. Nocon.
Donations may be made in Joe’s memory to Murray’s Point Cemetery.
