Obituary of Dan Carrigan
LINACY – Daniel Hugh “Dan” Carrigan, 73, Linacy, passed away peacefully, Saturday, February 4, 2023, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by his family.
Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Angus William and Daisy Vera (Fraser) Carrigan. Prior to retirement Dan was employed with Michelin Tire, Granton for over 30 years. A quiet guy, he was an avid hunter and fisherman in his younger years and enjoyed spending time in the Garden of Eden. Dan was always willing to give a helping hand to anyone that needed it. Most of all, he always made sure his girls and grandkids were always looked after.
Surviving are his daughters, Carla (Andrew) Graham, Durham; Donna Carrigan (Mike McMullin), Stellarton; grandchildren, Felicia, Rachael, and Keegan; “like a son”, Blake (Heather) Carrigan, Telford; “like a brother”, Jimmy (Pat) Gills, Pine Tree; sisters, Faye (Lloyd) Mitchell, MacPherson’s Mills; Helen Anderson, Trenton; Anna Fisher, Halifax; sisters-in-law, Mabel, and Yvonne; many nieces and nephews.
Beside his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of over 40 years, Marie (Cochrane); uncle, Dan Fraser; sister, Vera Cleary; brothers, Bill, Garfield, Sandy, Bobby, and David in infancy.
In keeping with Dan’s wishes, his daughters and grandchildren will honour his life privately.
Dan’s daughters wish to thank all the VON nurses who made it possible to remain in his home as much as possible. To the many staff members of the Halifax Infirmary, Victoria General, and especially the Aberdeen Hospital, they are most grateful for the wonderful care he received.
