Shocked by news of chuck's death, but I hadn't seen him in such a long time. He was both my doctor, a colleague , and a friend. While he was practicing here in Yarmouth I was assistant administrator of the hospital, and often had contact with him in that capacity. He always had good advice - on most any problem - and it was usually good advice. As far as his interest in design, I remember one occasion when he came to my office. Whatever the dress I was wearing was, he commented that ' that would make good drapes!' Now, I am quite short, and no lightweight, but I was quick to assure him that there was not enough fabric to be of use in that manner. When the hospital and I parted company, he sent me roses. Although we no longer worked together, I continued to value him as my doctor and my friend, and really missed him when he moved away. Of course I followed his career in provincial politics and had no doubt but what he served his constituents well. My deepest sympathy to you all.

Chuck was my all time favorite Doc. I flew him all over the western arctic. He was a regular on North-Wright Air and I successfully negotiated a medieval contract with him when he was the medical director in Inuvik.
He always had a smile and treated everyone with the greatest respect. I enjoyed knowing Chuck and flying him around, we always had a lot of laughs.
Very sorry to hear he passed.

The MacNeil Family,
Shocking to hear the passing of your Husband, Dad and Grandpa and know that our thoughts are with you all during your time of grief and sorrow over the miles between us. Dr Chuck held a special place in our family’s hearts as he delivered our youngest son Cameron in Inuvik on the MacKenzie Delta back in 1996 and his calm demeanour and humour was a soothing influence on these nervous parents who were so many miles away from any supporting family during the birth of our child. We will forever be grateful for his presence and gentleness during that time for us.
Our prayers go out to all of you and allow all of the good memories you have created at the beach and elsewhere ease some of your pain during this time of loss.
Take care of each other

We have only known Chuck for slightly more than a decade as neighbors at our cottage on "the hill". He and Betty hosted an open house our first season to introduce us to all their friends and family at Black Point. Kind, generous and thoughtful people. Chuck always spared some time to share a visit with Cooper with our grandchildren. Chuck's legacy is far flung; through his children and grandchildren, his patients and his constituents. Deepest condolences to Betty and family.

I had the privilege of working with Chuck during his time in government. He was a true gentleman, honest broker and worked very diligently for his constituents and the people of Nova Scotia. I always remember his smile and sense of humor, his stoic approach to a serious matter, especially Finance. By sheer coincidence, I ran into him at the Calgary airport on his way home from his tour of duty "north of 60" and learned of his appreciation of the people and the land. RIP Chuck.
