Obituary of Deborah Lee Anne Johnson

Deborah Lee Anne “Debbie” Johnson, 56, Alma, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2022, in the VG Site, QEII, Halifax.   

 

Born in New Glasgow on July 30, 1965, she was a daughter of Carole Anne (Hines) Johnson, New Glasgow and the late Jim Johnson.  Debbie was a graduate of St. Mary’s Rural High School, Sherbrooke; Mount Saint Vincent University (B.A., Public Relations) and University of Kings College (M.A., Journalism).  She was a talented writer and wrote for various publication and greatly enjoyed her tenure at Sherbrooke Village.  As a teenager, Debbie excelled in 4-H public speaking, showing livestock, baking, and crafts.

 

Debbie was a talented lady who was a wonderful gardener, always cultivating a bountiful harvest. She was an amazing photographer and cook.  Debbie enjoyed spending time with her daughter, Jill.  They shared many adventures, exploring beaches and love of diving, even in the coldest water.  Debbie shared a love of music with Jill and Lee, listening quietly while playing cards or attending concerts.  She and Lee enjoyed riding motorcycles and mountain biking throughout the province. Debbie was most at peace while being out in nature, whether in the woods or near the ocean. She possessed wonderful creativity and was an ardent crafter and was especially skilled at felting. Deborah will be dearly missed by all those she loved.

 

Besides her mother, Carole, Westville, she is survived by her partner, Lee Bates, Alma; daughter, Jillian Rae Johnson (Sherry), New Glasgow; sister, Diane Johnson-Snook (Gordie), Port Hawkesbury; brother, Dana Johnson (Michelle), Panama; cousin, Allan (Deelle) Hines, Stellarton; numerous nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

 

Debbie’s family will honour her life privately.
