Obituary of Lenora Sarah Jane Crockett
NEW GLASGOW – Lenora Sarah Jane Crockett, RN, 93, IOOF Home, Pictou, passed away, Saturday, October 27, 2007 in the home.
Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late John and Mary Carolyn (Cameron) McMillan. She was a graduate of the Victoria General School of Nursing (Class 37’) and was employed at the Aberdeen Hospital (specialised nursing) until 1950. She joined Century Chapter #10, Eastern Star, New Glasgow in 1939, serving in all offices. She was Worthy Grand Matron in 1953 and received her 50 year pin. She was a 70-year member of First Presbyterian Church, New Glasgow, having joined in 1937.
Surviving are nieces, Eleanor (Hector) MacDonald, Keppoch, P.E.I.; Peggy (John) Verschuren, North Sydney; sister-in-law, Alice McMillan, New Glasgow; grandniece, Allison MacDonald, Calgary, Alta.; grandnephews, Zach and Kyle Verschuren, North Sydney; Jonathan MacDonald, Keppoch.
She was predeceased by her husband, Harry Rood Crockett; brother, John H.
Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. today in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday in First Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson, officiating. Interment will be in Hopewell Cemetery.
