Obituary of Shona Louise MacDonald
PICTOU – Shona Louise MacDonald, 37, Pictou, formerly of Egerton, passed away Saturday, January 23, 2021 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow in the arms of her mother, with her beloved partner, Kirk, by her side, after a courageous and hard-fought battle with cancer.
She was a caring mother who devoted her life to her children Calen, Ethan, Taylor and Gage, and loved them more than anything. Shona enjoyed nature, animals, hiking, camping, swimming and four-wheeling with friends and family. She loved music and going to concerts, listening to and finding obscure music to share with friends and family. Shona will be remembered for her fun-loving personality, quick wit, sarcasm, dry remarks and quirky humour. She enjoyed a good party, possessed a big heart and was fiercely loyal to those she loved. Shona appreciated being understood and was always willing to champion the underdog.
She was intelligent, brave, and resilient, while being soft and caring – “walking softly while carrying a big stick”.
Shona will be sadly missed by her mother, Karen (Sandy) and father, Steve (Kippy); partner, Kirk; children, Calen, Taylor, Ethan and Gage; maternal grandmother, Elizabeth “Liz” (Sandy); siblings, Janae (Donnie) and Jake (Lacey); nieces, Braelyn and Lilah; nephews, Jordan and Andrew; many aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was predeceased by her maternal grandfather, Alexander.
Shona’s family will celebrate her life privately.
Her family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Aberdeen Hospital, Palliative Care Unit staff for their care and compassion.
