Obituary of Stanley Phillip Newell
Stanley Phillip “Stan” Newell, 83, New Glasgow, passed away, Monday, September 7, 2009 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in Canso, he was a son of the late Mansfield Simon and Lila Louella (Feltmate) Newell. During the Second World War he served with the Provost Corps. He had been a Commercial Painter and was a meat cutter with IGA for many years. Stanley enjoyed gardening and woodworking.
Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth Janie “Beth” (Hattie); sisters, Bertha (Harold) Mabey, New Glasgow; Jean (Howard) Greencorn, Half Island Cove; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by sisters, Edna Dort, Amanda Feltmate and Leona George; brothers, Coleman, Gordon and Douglas.
The family will receive visitors 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, September 9th in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, September 10th in the chapel with Rev. Helen Christie officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Cemetery, Argyle.
