Obituary of Ian Grant Kirk
NEW GLASGOW - Ian Grant Kirk, 28, New Glasgow died on Saturday, June 13, 2009 as a result of a motorcycle accident.
Born in Antigonish, he was a son of Dr. Grant and Jean (MacDonald) Kirk, Chance Harbour. He had worked in the Alberta Oil Patch for several years and was happy to return to Pictou County where he was employed with Webster Brothers Paving. Ian enjoyed his friends and loved his special friend, Gillian. He was a “ripper”; he played hard and was happiest on his bike. His tenderness and compassion were reflected in a heart that was as big as “all outdoors”.
Surviving besides his parents, Grant and Jean are sister, Heather (Abdul), Halifax; brothers, Duncan (Mandy) and Andrew (Tammy), expected niece, Camryn, New Glasgow; maternal grandmother, Irene MacDonald, Green Hill; aunt, Patricia (Frank) Mason, Calgary, Alta; uncle, Donnie (Donna) MacDonald, Green Hill; niece, Kylee; numerous cousins. He recently reconnected with his birth parents, Michael MacDonald, Toronto and Jeannie Murrin-Doyle, Halifax and their families. A life to early lost, he will be missed by friends and family.
The family will receive visitors 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, June 17th in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where a funeral service will be held 4 p.m. Thursday, June 18th in the chapel with Rev. Dave Campbell officiating. Cremation to follow.
