Obituary of Charles Harold Munro
NEW GLASGOW - With cherished memories and broken hearts, with his loving family by his side, Charles Munro, New Glasgow passed away Friday, May 28, 2010 in the Palliative Care Unit of the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow and entered eternal rest with strength and courage after a long illness.
Charlie “Chuck” was born on November 13, 1929 and was the sixth son of the late Henry and Mary (Oliver) Munro. Charlie worked at various jobs before working as a supervisor at Hawker Siddeley until his retirement in 1980. Retirement was not for Charlie, he worked part time for Cliff’s Taxi until he suffered a stroke 14 years ago. His favourite times were spent at family gatherings and the many fishing trips enjoyed at the Munro Camp on Chisholm’s Lake.
Charlie is survived by his wife and best friend of 56 years, Betty; his loving children, Susan (Dan), New Glasgow; Wayne (Jill), Little Harbour; Kim (David), Lower Sackville; special grandchildren, Alanna (Iggy), Springhill; Josh, Fort McMurray/New Glasgow; Henry, Little Harbour; brother; Ted, Truro; sister, Tilda (Dick), New Glasgow; brother, Jim (Carol), Petitcodiac, N.B.; sisters-in-law, Gloria, New Glasgow; Sandy, Victoria, B.C.; many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by brothers, Bob, Lloyd, Harry and Don; sisters-in-law, Shirley and Jean Frances; two children in infancy.
The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday, May 29th in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, May 30th in St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, New Glasgow with Rev. Richard Sand officiating. Interment will take place at a later date.
Donations in memory of Charlie may be made to the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Unit.
