Dear Richard, Elenor and Lorna. I was so terribly saddened to hear of Don’s passing. As children , my sister , Shauna, and I spent many , many hours playing with Donnie and Chris. I am saddened to hear of the passing of our cousin Donnie. I send my deepest sympathy to Eleanor, Lorna and Richard, and to Donnie's friends. I have many fond memories of large family picnics each year on our Grandfather Cooke's birthday, of baby-sitting for our Aunt Scottie and Uncle Earl, of our childhood birthday parties with all cousins, and visits to the beach at Little Harbour. His sad loss leaves another gap in our wonderful family.

I was saddened to learn of Don’s passing. I had the pleasure of working with Donald for years at both the Gander, NL and Halifax weather offices. He was a talented meteorologist, but also gifted in electronics, music and financial matters, among other things. Many years ago, Don had an afternoon concert somewhere in northern Nova Scotia and didn't get back to the city in time to take his cello home. He brought it into the office and I asked if he could play something when our duties settled off a little. So, about 2:00 am in the morning, I had the wonderful experience of listening to Don play. Many other good memories as well. My condolences to Don’s family. It is with profound sadness that we learnt of the passing on Don. We first really got to know Don as the ever present companion and later husband of Donna - someone who loved music as she did and someone who brought her great happiness. His playing graced many of our concerts and church services - for which we give grateful thanks. And, he was a very generous supporter of the New Glasgow Music Festival - so dear to our hearts. He will be dearly missed.
