Obituary of Anne Mildred Langley
MERIGOMISH – The death occurred at the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, on Wednesday, October 24, 2007 of Anne Mildred Langley (nee Bartlett) of Merigomish.
Born in Edinburgh, Scotland, she immigrated as a young child to Truro. She graduated from the Aberdeen Hospital School of Nursing in 1938. She married G. Bain Langley from Port Hawkesbury, and together they criss-crossed the country during his career with the Royal Bank. She and her husband retired to Merigomish, close to the family, to enjoy their lovely home “Longmeadow”. Anne will be remembered as a wonderful homemaker, hostess, cook, gardener and nature lover. She did everything with great skill, sense of humour and with her own special flourish.
Anne is survived by her children, Sylvia (Duncan) Dingle, Little Harbour; John (Judy) Langley, Halifax; Linda (Norval) MacDonald, Pictou; grandchildren, Susan (Michael) Williams, Janet Whitman, Barbara (Scott) Elliott, Adam (Amanda) Langley, Andrew Langley, Nicholas and Lauren MacDonald; great-grandchildren, Kyran, Bronwyn and Rowan Williams; Casey Elliott. She will be remembered by her very special caregivers, Joan Osmond and Valerie Downey.
She was predeceased by her husband, G. Bain Langley; grandson, Peter Whitman; sister, Elizabeth Boutlier.
The family will receive visitors 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. today in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow where funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Sunday in the chapel with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery, Merigomish.
