Obituary of Florence Amelia Cornett
STELLARTON – Florence Amelia “Flossie” (Cameron) Cornett, 87, Stellarton, passed away peacefully, Friday, September 10, 2010 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow surrounded by her family.
Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late Henry Alexander and Nettie Jane (Spanks) Cameron. Flossie had been a faithful home maker all her life. She was an honorary member of the Acadia Sisters # 609, Westville, LOBA since 1941 and a member of Christ Anglican Church, Stellarton. Flossie enjoyed playing bingo, swimming and knitting. She spent most of her summers at her cottage in Lochaber where she enjoyed fishing with her late husband John.
Surviving are daughter, Paulette “Polly” (Donnie) MacAuley, Stellarton; sons, John H. (Linda), Riverton; Gerald “Jerry”, at home; sisters, Violet Lawrence, Kitchener, Ontario; Myrtle Ennis, Ontario; Janetta Cameron, Kitchener, Ont.; Shirley (Bernie) Farrell, Stellarton; brothers, John Cameron, Toronto; sister-in-law, Mary Cameron, Ontario; four half-sisters; five half-brothers; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; five great, great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband of 67 years, John Joseph Cornett; brothers, George, Stewart, Edward, Henry, James “Jimmy” and Bill; sister, Helene; half-brothers, Ralph and Howard; half-sisters, Margaret, Hattie and Catherine.
The family will receive visitors 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Sunday, September 12th in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, September 13th in Christ Anglican Church with Rev. Aidan Kingsbury officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
