MACPHERSON’S MILLS – Ruth Elizabeth (MacDonald) Jones, 58, MacPherson’s Mills formerly of Thorburn passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at home. Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late Alex Finlay and Donelda Jean (MacGregor) MacDonald. She had been employed as a welder at the former Trenton Works in recent years and previously was a hairdresser. Ruth enjoyed cooking, fishing, gardening, and spending time with her family. Surviving are her companion, Kenny “Ken” Allard; daughters, Laura Anne (Joe) MacDonald, Kenzieville; Hillary Jones (Kevin Stewart), Brookville; sons, Alex (Lorraine) Conway, Sylvester; Dean Jones, Vancouver; sisters, Vivian Scott (Neil), Scarborough, Ont; Barb(Dougall) MacDonald, Linacy; Dorothy Feltham (Frank), Truro; Nancy (Don) Snell, Sutherland’s River; grandchildren, Ryan and Mary Brewer, Leland Conway and Haiden Stewart; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by twin infant sisters, Annie and Elsie; infant brother, Freddie. The family will receive visitors from 10 – 10:45 a.m. Thursday in Union Presbyterian Church, Thorburn where funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. with Rev. Jeff Lackie officiating. Interment will follow in Thorburn Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations may be made in Ruth’s memory to the Aberdeen Palliative Care Society or the Pictou County VON.
