To Gordie, Charlie, Grant, Debbie and Graham. No secret, growing up beside you guys, Shirley was like our second mother. All of us were and are very grateful for her influence, smile and common sense when we (normally Doug and I) behaved "somewhat less than good". Dear Gordie and all the family: I am so sad to lose my oldest, and dearest friend Shirl. We've been friends forever (I was actually at her house when she was born - but don't remember it, since I was only 18 months old at the time!) We shared a wartime childhood, then in our teens we were together in the Ceilidh Girls Pipe Band, as drummers. Although we lived in two different provinces, we usually managed to see one another at least once a year - and spent our time laughing! Then, for the past 30 years we spent an hour once a month on the phone together (again, laughing). What wonderful memories! My condolences to all of you in this time of sorrow. Luvya, Ann xo

Bus trips during 1990’s with the pipe bands. From New Glasgow to where ever you needed to be. Grand Lady. I remember her as a great friend to all her piers.
