Obituary of Melda Arlene Dean
BROADWAY – Melda Arlene Dean, 59, Broadway, passed away Tuesday, June 22, 2010 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by her family.
Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late Robert William and Muriel Aveon (MacLeod) Cumming. Arlene enjoyed playing Bingo, riding the Anchors Above Zipline on McGrath’s Mountain Road and spending time with her dog, Mrs. Pollyfax. She was an avid painter, often replicating photos for friends using various objects as canvas. Arlene was a devoted wife and mother, doting grandmother and great-grandmother, caring sister and aunt.
Surviving are her husband of 43 years, John William “Jack” Dean; daughters, Linda Dean (Derrick Robson), French River; Janis Dean (Xian Wang), Halifax; sons, John Dean (Karen MacDonnell), Ontario; Shane Dean, McGrath’s Mountain; sisters, May (Gary) O’Connell, Porters Lake; Marie (George) Wright, Piedmont; brothers, Robert (Bernice) Cumming, West Chezzetcook; Gary Cumming, Piedmont; grandchildren, Robert, Crystal, Kyle, James, Rylie, Shelby, John Patrick, Tyler, Kaden and Colton; great-grandchildren, Joseph and Jacob; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by brother, James Edward in infancy.
In keeping with Arlene’s wishes there will be no visitation. A private service will be held at a later date.
