Obituary of Karen Veronica Currie
HOPEWELL – Karen Veronica Currie, 58, Hopewell, was called to the Kingdom of Heaven on Tuesday, November 20, 2007 at home, encircled by the love and faith of her family and friends.
Born in New Glasgow on September 1, 1949, she was a daughter of the late Archie Dan and Margaret Lillian “Lil” (Lewis) MacDonald. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, New Glasgow.
Karen’s amazing gifts and talents were abundant. Everything she worked on created magic and beauty. Many people throughout the country are owners of teddy bears she crafted with love and perfection. Karen enjoyed creating gowns, dresses and baptismal garments for family and friends to wear on special occasions. She took pride in transforming salvaged, lack-lustre objects into unique treasures, which she enthusiastically shared to make the homes of her family and friends special.
Karen’s most precious gift was her vast capacity to love deeply and give selflessly. Her life’s work was ensuring the health and happiness of her family and friends, and sharing the joy and richness she saw in everyday.
Forever she will be cherished by her loving family, husband of 35 years, John; daughters, Jona Currie (Mike Charron), Hopewell; Meghan (Billy) Horton, Pictou Landing; her beloved granddaughters, Ainsley and Lilly; step-grandsons, Justin and Mark; sisters, Margaret “Peggy’ (Angus) MacDonald, Linacy; Rita Fanning, Truro; Anita (Ernie) Murray, Pine Tree; Valerie (Sam) Anderson, Little Harbour; aunts, Claire Watts, New Glasgow; Kit (Leo) Thibeau, Stephenville, Nfld; uncle, Harold (Corrine) Lewis, Linacy; father and mother-in-law, Allan and Babs Currie, Hopewell; sister-in-law, Winnifred (Bill) Cameron, Trafalgar; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
