Obituary of Robert Gilmore Turnbull
NEW GLASGOW – Robert Gilmore “Bob” Turnbull, 89, Northumberland Veteran’s Unit, Pictou, formerly of High Street, New Glasgow passed away, Tuesday, July 3, 2007 in the Unit.
Born in MacLellan’s Brook on December 10, 1917, he was a son of the late Frank Gilmore and Katherine MacIntosh (Robertson) Turnbull. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Bob served with the Brockville Rifles during the Second World War. Prior to retirement in 1975, he was a Crane Operator at the former Hawker Siddeley, Trenton. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, New Glasgow.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Mary Georgina (Milne); daughters, Patricia “Pat” Bustin, Pleasantville; Heather Karook, Almonte, Ont.; grandchildren, Scott Bustin, Sarah Karook, Andrew Bustin and Amy Bustin; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by sister, Kathleen in infancy; brother, Chester.
The family will receive visitors 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Friday in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday in First Presbyterian Church, New Glasgow. Cremation to follow. Interment will be in Castle Hill Cemetery, MacLellan`s Brook at a later date.
