Obituary of Charlotte Mary Mayo

RIVERTON – Charlotte Mary Mayo, 94, Valley View Villa, Riverton formerly of Sunset Haven Rest Home, New Glasgow passed away Tuesday, October 28, 2008 in the Villa. Born November 5, 1913 in Little Sands, P.E.I., she was the daughter of the late John Alexander and Rebecca (Buell) Gillis. Prior to moving to Pictou County with her family in 1960, she resided in Halifax. She was a member of St. Matthew’s United Church, Halifax. Charlotte was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt. Surviving are her daughter, Norma (Eldon) Rae, Westville; daughter-in-law, Linda Mayo, Westville; grandchildren, Angela Rae, Adam Rae, Gerald (Tena) Mayo, Gina Cameron and Alvah Mayo; great-grandchildren, Brandon and Tyler Cameron; numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Gerald Alfred Mayo; son, Keith; brothers, Bill, Alex, Clarence, Gordon, Art and Miles. The family will receive visitors 7-9 p.m. Thursday in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday in the chapel with Rev. Maureen O’Hagan officiating. Cremation to follow with interment in Little Sands Cemetery. Donations may be made in her memory to the Pictou County Food Bank.
