As I work in the insurance business, I have known Maurice for many years. He was a very kind and caring person. Maurice and I were part of a foursome at a golf tournament some years back. He was an excellent golfer; I am not. I wouldn't have got through that game had it not been for Maurice! He was always very supportive with events and activities in the insurance business. I am Very saddened to heir of the passing of a good friend and work partner. . Maurice and I met in the early 1990's when he purchased Canavans Appraisals PEI from me . I went on to work with Maurice until 2023 when I became Ill with kidney disease and had to retire. I had some great years with Maurice and His staff and would do it all over again in a heart beat , Maurice was a very fair and generous person and a treat to work with. My deepest condolences to Lynn , Brett and remainder of the family , also to the office staff as I am sure they are heart broken with the loss of a great Boss and friend. Kenny Noonan

Maurice was a great friend and we spent a lot of time together. Over the 40 years I have known him, we created many wonderful memories that will my heart with pride being able to say I knew him. He was an amazing man who was so generous and helpful to so many people never expecting anything in return. I will truly miss him. God bless you Maurice and my deepest sympathy to your family. The first time I met Maurice was after I flew home for Xmas and when I pulled up to my mom's house there were new automatic solar lights, her woodshed had been moved to a more convenient location and the kitchen drawer that had been broken for over a decade was opening and closing smoothly. Maurice was a hard working and good man with a great work ethic and sense of humor and he left his mark wherever he went. I am thankful for the way Maurice treated my family and my mom, Joan, whenever they were together. He was good a man and I am glad that I got to be one of his last speaker phone calls earlier this week. Heartfelt condolences to all of Maurices family and friends, he will be missed.

Maurice is also survived by four Grandchildren who were not mentioned here, but are devastated nonetheless. Sending love and condolences to the family and his four grandchildren, Jayce, Kelsey, Alyvia and Hayleigh.

Maurice and the entire team at Canavans have carried out independent appraisal work for Intact Insurance for as long as I can recall! Over these past 27 years, I have worked with Maurice and his team on many files and multiple business scenarios where our two companies had a shared interest. Maurice was outspoken and passionate about his business, but he was always a gentleman in all of our business dealings. He always put the best interest of his people at the forefront of every discussion or negotiation. What a wonderful picture of Maurice. I’m sending heartfelt condolences to his family and to my mom, Joan. Maurice was a hardworking man who loved his family deeply. Whenever we spoke, he would share stories about his camp, his work, his son, his siblings, or his hunting adventures. He had a true love for the outdoors and a talent for fixing just about anything. Maurice also had a playful side—he loved to tease me and often joked that my husband, Adam, deserved a medal (and he does!). I hope Maurice is now surrounded by everything he loved most in his afterlife, and his family takes peace in knowing he is no longer in pain (or suffering).

I’m Joan Mac Neil’s sister Rosemarie and I am so very sorry for the family with the passing of Maurice. Meeting Maurice for the first time a few years ago was a pleasure he was very welcoming and I enjoyed his sense of humour I could tell from that first meeting that Maurice was a Gentleman and someone who cared He was a hard worker and a true visionary he could see where a business could thrive and he made it happen…. By himself … he got it going then he’d have work for others. Maurice was a humble man in my opinion he didn’t have to boast about the things he did … his work ethic spoke Volumes!!! I won’t forget you Maurice you made an impression on me and I wanted your family to know that you won’t be forgotten. What a wonderful legacy for a man to leave his family having a somewhat new friend to send these words of care to you all. God Bless each of you and God Bless Maurice.
